Known for their hand crafted quality, Irish Hooks (a.k.a., Hartman Hooks) are the quality standard for rug hooks. Many rug hookers will only hook with an Irish Hook.

This version, with a "Slim Handle" is made has a slightly longer and thinner handle (vs. the popular Ergo Handle),and is designed for slightly finer work. We offer these in both a 5mm and 8mm hook size. The 5mm works well with many wool cut sizes and is best for #4 through #6 cuts. The 8mm size is designed for more primitive hooking, with #8 cuts or larger.

The handle is made of yew wood and because of its dense and closed grain, it is durable and feels great in the hand. The hook is made of handcrafted brass, individually crafted and smoothed so that there are no sharp edges.

I purchased this slim handle hook to try something different as have been basically using ball handle hook. I was told it’s good to switch hooks while hooking as each work differently and because of that it’s less fatiguing to your hand and wrist. This hook is very comfortable to use. Highly recommend it. You can’t beat the quality of Hartman hooks.
